Intention for Umrah Make this intention with full sincerity. Then begin the Talbiyah to enter ihram. β
Intention for Hajj (Tamattu' or Ifrad) Tamattu': recite on 8 Dhul Hijjah after ghusl and two rakats, before re-entering ihram for Hajj. Ifrad: recite once at the miqat when entering ihram on arrival (Hajj alone, no Umrah). β
Intention for Qiran (Hajj + Umrah combined) Qiran combines Hajj and Umrah in one ihram. Recite this intention at the miqat on arrival. Then enter ihram and stay in it from miqat through 10 Dhul Hijjah β do NOT shave or exit ihram after the initial Umrah Tawaf. Hady (sacrifice) is required on 10 Dhul Hijjah. β
Intention for Umrah of Tamattu' Tamattu': Umrah first, then exit ihram, then re-enter for Hajj on 8 Dhul Hijjah. Make this specific Tamattu' intention at the miqat on arrival so the niyyah explicitly links the Umrah to the Hajj that follows. Hady (sacrifice) is required on 10 Dhul Hijjah for the joining. β
Talbiyah Recite continuously after entering ihram, especially in transit, when meeting others, and as you change states. Men recite aloud; women recite quietly. β
First sight of the Kaaba Recite three times. It is said that any du'a made upon first seeing the Kaaba is granted β make your most heartfelt request now. Send salawat upon the Prophet ο·Ί. β
Intention for Tawaf Begin Tawaf at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad). Stand facing it, make this intention, then start. β
At the Black Stone Recite each time you pass the Black Stone during Tawaf. Point to it with the right hand if you cannot touch it; do not push or harm others to reach it. β
Between the Yamani Corner and the Black Stone Recite this between the Yamani Corner and the Black Stone, on every round of Tawaf. β
At Maqam Ibrahim After completing Tawaf, pray two rakats behind Maqam Ibrahim. In the first rakat recite Surah al-Kafirun after al-Fatiha; in the second, Surah al-Ikhlas. β
Drinking Zamzam Drink Zamzam standing, facing the Qiblah, in three breaths. Make any sincere du'a β Zamzam is for whatever it is drunk for (Ibn Majah 3062). β
Approaching Safa Recite once as you approach Safa to begin Sa'ye. Then ascend Safa, face the Kaaba, raise your hands, and say the takbir three times. (Qur'an 2:158 β only the opening of the ayah is recited here for the ritual.) β
On Safa and Marwa (Sa'ye) Recite on top of Safa and on top of Marwa each of the seven trips. Between recitations, make personal du'a freely. β
Best du'a on the Day of Arafat The Prophet ο·Ί said: "The best du'a is the du'a of the Day of Arafat, and the best of what I and the prophets before me said is this." Recite it abundantly throughout the Day of Arafat. Combine with personal supplication for yourself, your family, the ummah, and the deceased. β
Du'a of Tawhid The du'a of Yunus ΨΉΩΩΩ Ψ§ΩΨ³ΩΨ§Ω from inside the whale. The Prophet ο·Ί said no Muslim ever supplicates with this du'a for anything except Allah answers him (Tirmidhi 3505). β
At Mash'ar al-Haram (Muzdalifah) Recite at Mash'ar al-Haram (Muzdalifah) after Fajr, facing the Qiblah, until just before sunrise. Make abundant personal du'a. β
Takbir at Rami Say with each of the seven stones at every jamarah. Throw stones one at a time, lifting your right hand each time. β
Du'a after Rami al-Sughra and al-Wusta After Rami al-Sughra (small) and al-Wusta (middle), step aside, face the Qiblah, raise hands, and supplicate at length. Do NOT supplicate after Rami al-Aqabah. β
Returning home (du'a al-awba) Recite as you begin the journey home from Hajj or any righteous travel. β
