Dhikr is the living heart’s nourishment. “Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Qurʾān 13:28). The Prophet ﷺ said the example of the one who remembers Allah and the one who does not is like the living and the dead. A little, kept up daily, is beloved to Allah.
After every obligatory prayer
- • Astaghfirullāh ×3, then “Allāhumma anta-s-salām wa minka-s-salām…”.
- • SubḥānAllāh ×33, al-ḥamdu lillāh ×33, Allāhu akbar ×33, then “Lā ilāha illā-llāh waḥdahu…” to complete 100.
- • Āyat al-Kursī once — whoever reads it after each prayer, nothing keeps him from Paradise but death.
Morning & evening
- • Āyat al-Kursī, and Sūrat al-Ikhlāṣ, al-Falaq, an-Nās (×3 each).
- • Sayyid al-istighfār — the master supplication of seeking forgiveness.
- • “SubḥānAllāhi wa biḥamdihi” ×100 — sins fall away though they be like the foam of the sea.
- • “Lā ilāha illā-llāh waḥdahu lā sharīka lah…” ×10 or ×100.
- • “Ḥasbiya-llāhu lā ilāha illā huwa…” ×7, and the duʿās of morning/evening protection.
