The two Eid prayers — ʿĪd al-Fiṭr after Ramaḍān and ʿĪd al-Aḍḥā during Hajj — are two rakʿahs prayed in congregation, marked by extra takbīrs, with the khuṭba AFTER the prayer (the reverse of Jumuʿah). The schools rate it from a strong sunnah to an obligation.
How it is prayed
- 1
🌅Prayed after the sun has risen a spear’s height, up to just before midday (zawāl).
- 2
🙌First rakʿah: the opening takbīr, then several extra takbīrs, then al-Fātiḥa and a sūra.
- 3
🙌Second rakʿah: extra takbīrs (fewer), then al-Fātiḥa and a sūra, then complete the rakʿah.
- 4
🗣️The imam then gives the khuṭba — it comes AFTER the prayer.
